What is Olivem 1000?

Olivem 1000 is Cosmos approved and it is a self-thickening, vegetable derived natural emulsifier for oil in water emulsions. Our olivem 1000 is made up of cetearyl alcohol and sorbitan olivate, and it comes in ivory waxy flakes with a neutral scent.

This natural emulsifier produces a thicker emulsion compared to regular emulsifying waxes. It is oil soluble and it has a melting point of 70°C.

What Can Olivem 1000 Be Used For?

Olivem 1000 can be used in lotions and creams as an emulsifier and to contribute to thickening the product. It is also popular in cleansing lotions and balms as it is self emulsifying in water and it brings cleansing elements.

Because Olivem 1000 is Cosmos approved, it can be used with organic ingredients to make an organic product.

Olivem 1000 should be added to the heated oil phase of your cosmetic recipe. It is recommended to emulsify at 20–25% of the oil phase. The usage rate for olivem 1000 is between 2% and 8%. If there are issues with the stability of the formulations, it is suggested to use it with a stabiliser like xanthan gum.
